Hello and thank you for visiting my site. If you haven’t figured it out yet, my name is Joe Garr.
I received my first camera from my aunt back around 1972 and it used 127 film. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the brand. Over the years I have tinkered with several cameras from a Kodak Pocket Instamatic 110, my fathers Canon 35mm camera, a Sony video camera that connected to a portable VCR hanging over my shoulder (which weighed a ton), to a full frame Canon DSLR and several others in-between. Who else remembers the Kodak Disk Camera?
While still in my teens, I would occasionally ride along with my sister as she would take photos of real estate for my brother-in-law who was a full time professional photographer. It was fascinating to be in his darkroom printing the images we had recently shot. (Thank you Larry) I have alway wanted to have my own darkroom but never obtained the equipment. Now I do all my post processing in Lightroom and print my own prints on a Canon Pixma Pro Printer.
Even though photography for me has come and gone over the years as other distractions have gotten in the way, I have always retained an interest in it. Most recently that interest was reignited several years ago with the purchase of a Canon DSLR. Shortly after that purchase, another one of my sisters gave me her old Canon AE-1 and a Canonet G-III QL17. I sent the AE-1 out to be refurbished but I decided to disassemble and repair the Canonet my self. I have since rediscovered the enjoyment of shooting on film.
A selection of my printed work can be viewed displayed full size inside the clothing shop of Key West Bait and Tackle, 241 Margaret Street, Old Town Key West (next to the Half Shell Raw Bar). They may be purchased locally at the Bait Shop or on line at this website. Just click on the “Would you like a print?” option in the menu to the left.
Thank you again,
Joe
